Panasonic broadens the functionality of the Gateway 5088 as an OPC UA server, the standard protocol for industrial automation

Panasonic introduces the addition of OPC UA functionality to the Gateway 5088 for Panasonic EBL512 G3 fire alarm systems. This enables our Gateway 5088 to operate as an OPC UA server.

OPC UA is a free, open-source and multiplatform standard communication protocol in continuous development, which is specifically designed for industrial automation. This standard is being widely adopted worldwide Industry 4.0 initiative and has been used across several industries because of its flexibility. It enables the interchange of information and data within devices inside machines, between machines and from machines to systems.

Our OPC UA Gateway server allows to transfer information to all types of multiplatform OPC UA clients such mobile devices, tablets, touch screen terminals, computers or industry data control centres and with different operating systems (Windows, Linux, Apple, Android).

With this new functionality, OPC UA clients can connect and get real-time information about alarms, faults, disablement, and other deviations from the fire alarm system. It is also possible to for example reset fire alarms, acknowledge faults, depending on user level via the OPC UA clients.

This incorporation of the OPC UA standard extends the versatility and flexibility of the Panasonic Gateway. In addition to the common operation as a remote fire alarm system monitoring device or protocol interface for its integration with management and security systems, it can now also be used as an OPC UA server, which makes it easier to integrate with other systems running different platforms.
