Panasonic fire alarm solutions for complex REDI shopping mall building system in Helsinki

The large REDI shopping mall in Helsinki has relied on Panasonic fire alarm solutions for its complex building system, which requires a highly reliable and flexible fire alarm system that easily integrates with other systems.

Challenges

REDI shopping mall in Helsinki is a very complex building system with a large shopping mall and in total 8 office and apartment towers, when the project is fully completed in 2028. It has in total 63.500 m2 rentable space, 175 stores, 40 restaurants and cafes over five floors. To add further complexity to the building, there are 4 integrated parking floors with space for almost 2.000 cars, a metro station and a highway running through the building.

In such a complex building system with very different activities and environments and with tens of thousands of people passing every day, there are enormous requirements on the fire detection system. Apart from the obvious requirement of an absolute minimum of false alarms and high flexibility when the stores are expanded or changed, it also needs to be easy to integrate with other systems.
